Speech and Language Pathology specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of speech, language, and swallowing disorders. Problems with speech or swallowing affect people of many ages and for a variety of reasons. The causes may include a neurological event (spinal cord or brain injury, stroke) a neuromuscular disorder (MD, MS, ALS, Parkinson's disease) disease, injury or genetic factors.
MaRyan Hulvey, MS, CCC-SLP uses current technology to help address many problems, such as:
- Difficulty with swallowing
- Acquired speech and language disorders
- Developmental delays of speech or language
- Motor speech disorders (apraxia)
- Cognitive-linguistic disorders
- Stuttering
- Voice disorders (nodules, polyps, vocal cord thinning, paralysis)
